Business Central Client

The Business Central client is a role-based interface for your ERP—available on web, desktop, and mobile. Your Role Center surfaces tasks, KPIs, and shortcuts so you start where you add the most value. “Tell Me” search quickly finds pages, reports, and actions, while FactBoxes show context without leaving the screen. Personalization, saved filters, and tight Excel/Teams/Outlook integration keep work fast and consistent. Security, permissions, and environments (production/sandbox) are centrally managed so you can work confidently anywhere.

The Business Central client course is a one-day course (approximately 7 hours) from CURABIS that trains users in the transition from the Navision client to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central client. The course covers change management, the differences between the two platforms, role centre customisation, Excel integration, advanced filters and practical transition scenarios. Participants work with the company's own data during the course, so the training is concrete and directly applicable. The price is DKK 3,495 per participant.

The Role Centre is the role-based home page in Business Central that shows each user's most important tasks, KPIs, lists and actions based on their role in the organisation. Microsoft provides standard Role Centres for typical roles such as Business Manager, Accountant, Sales Order Processor, Purchasing Agent and Warehouse Worker. Role Centres can be customised per user through the Personalisation function, where fields, lists and actions can be added, removed or rearranged without code changes.

The Navision client is an installed Windows application (RoleTailored Client or Classic Client) tied to the version the company originally implemented. The Business Central client is a web-based client that runs in the browser or through Microsoft's mobile apps, and it is updated automatically by Microsoft twice a year. The new client is built on the Role Centre concept, integrates directly with Microsoft 365, Teams and Copilot, and includes Excel integration through the Edit in Excel feature. Functionally, it covers the same business logic, but the user interface and ways of working are different.

Business Central integrates with Microsoft Excel through the Edit in Excel function, which opens any list (items, customers, entries, sales orders) directly in Excel via an Office Add-in. Changes can be edited in Excel and published back to Business Central in the same action. The function supports bulk updates of master data, spreadsheet-based budgeting, general ledger postings from Excel and advanced data cleaning. The Excel integration requires Microsoft 365 and is active by default in Business Central SaaS.

Advanced filters in Business Central use a combination of field filters, comparison operators (>, <, &, |), wildcards and DateFormula syntax to find precise data in lists. Personalised views save filter combinations as shortcut views that can be accessed per user and role. The features give quick access to, for example, overdue invoices, items below the reorder point or sales orders for specific customers, and the course trains participants in building filters that reduce the time spent locating data.

The Business Central client course at CURABIS costs DKK 3,495 per participant for a one-day course (approximately 7 hours). The price covers preparation, delivery, course materials and hands-on exercises in the Business Central environment. The course is delivered as an open class or as a company-specific programme. For company-specific delivery, the price is agreed separately based on the number of participants, scope and whether the course should be run in the customer's own Business Central environment.

The Business Central client course is aimed at both new and experienced users of Business Central. It is particularly relevant for finance staff, sales staff, inventory managers, administrative staff and managers who need an overall understanding of the system to make better decisions. The course is especially valuable for companies about to make or having just completed the transition from Dynamics NAV or Navision to Business Central, and who need to get employees productive in the new client quickly.

Change management when moving from Navision to Business Central is the discipline that handles the human side of an ERP change through communication, training, involvement and follow-up. Even though Business Central is built on the same business logic as Navision, the user interface, workflows and Role Centres are different, which can create resistance. Effective change management identifies change champions, communicates the benefits concretely, delivers role-specific training and measures adoption after go-live. A lack of change management is one of the most frequent reasons that ERP projects do not deliver the expected value.
